Middle School Study Hall Spring 2027
When: Wednesday 3-5pm
Dates: 1/6-4/28
Ages: 10+
Cost: $535 (For payment via cash or check 3% will be deducted, contact theacademyofchaos@gmail.com, also accepting Braintree Academy funds.)
Study Hall is focused on learning in a peer environment to develop long term friendships in an academic space, building strong study skills, growing independent learners, providing math and language arts tutoring, supporting parents, and is a collaboration between parents and instructor to provide an additional level of accountability. Each class includes a life skills lesson with homework for the next week.
Parents must play an active role in this cohort’s learning, parents are expected to provide a clear weekly schedule of core subject assignments, students are expected to complete lessons and grow in independence.
Each student must have a dedicated backpack, stocked with supplies, and bring all required study materials to class each week.
Students participate with your selection of curriculum. All materials and book fees are the responsibility of the parent, the class provides guidance and recommendations but does not provide curricula.
If parents are unsure of where to start or need curriculum and planning support, please reach out for a 1-1 planning workshop before starting this class.
This is not a class for reading library books, no devices are allowed, students should be prepared to use study skills and not be disruptive to others, it is a quiet working space.
We have an end of the semester party to celebrate our achievements.
PLEASE NOTE:
Students must bring a 3 ring binder clearly labeled with their name, tab divider inserts, and loose leaf paper, see recommendations here. (Zipper binders work best.)
A weekly update is sent to all enrolled families via email on Mondays, this includes details for all currently running classes, upcoming events, and field trip opportunities.
All students are welcome to share lunch from 12-1, there is also the opportunity to register as the “SNACK ATTACK” entrepreneur and sell snacks or treats during this time.
Unless noted, all classes are drop off at Westfield Washington Public Library and do not require parent participation. Review the rules of being at the library with your student before classes begin.
All classes are academically rigorous, teams focused, and require a high level of independence. We do our best to accommodate learning needs, however large classes do not provide direct 1-1 support for students. Your careful consideration of class requirements and the environment before enrolling ensures a safe and positive experience for everyone. All participants will be evaluated on the first day to ensure they are academically prepared for the group learning environment.
Parents may request students to exit the building alone for pickup however, instructors will not be held responsible for missing students under these circumstances. Unless otherwise notified, instructors request students to stay in or near the classroom until a parent arrives. They are not allowed to roam around the library unsupervised and instructors may not leave until all students are picked up.
The Academy of Chaos maintains a ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY for any inappropriate language, topics, or physical behavior. In the first event a student requests to leave class, is verbally or physically aggressive, or demonstrates violent behavior, a guardian will be immediately contacted for pick-up and the student will be unenrolled from class without a refund.
