Executive Function, Sensory & Emotional Learning

Reading about and practicing how to respond in different situations is important to emotional growth. We read and discuss books about emotions to practice new skills and refresh on ones we might have forgotten. I include a lot of work to develop executive function skills such as lapbooks, poster presentations and interactive notebooks, those resources are shared under specific core subjects. I’ve also included sensory tools that have worked well for us to continue learning on long, cold and dark winter days.

Something that has been a huge help in juggling the diverse ages in our family was for me to create a youtube read-aloud playlist using homeschool planet. I selected a daily book, created a homeschool planet lesson plan with 1 link each day and now my younger child can log in, click and view without assistance. The lesson plan can be applied to any student with 1 click. If you subscribe to homeschool planet I am able to share any of the lesson plans I’ve created with you.
